For Banking Your Own Samples:
  1. How long can a specimen be stored?
There is no specific time limit. Historically, specimens stored for as long as 20 years have resulted in successful pregnancy.
  2. Can my sample be collected at home?
We encourage sample collection in our private collection room. However, we do provide special instructions for patients who prefer to obtain their sample at home.
  3. How are the specimens kept safe?
Specimens are stored under lock and key. They are monitored on a daily basis. A power failure would have no effect on the tanks of liquid nitrogen where samples are stored.
For Donor Recipients:
  1. What do ICI and IUI stand for?
ICI stands for Intracervical Insemination where the specimens are placed at the mouth of the cervix. With Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) specimens are placed within the uterus.
  2. Can I use a friend as a donor?
Yes. The designated donor will be screened, tested and the specimens quarantined in the same manner as an anonymous donor.
  3. How do I order specimens?
Three forms are required to open an account. You will fill out a Client Information sheet and a Frozen Donor Semen Specimen Agreement. Your doctor will complete the Authorization to Release Semen Specimen form.
