Anonymous Semen Donor Program
Donor Testing
Our donor screening process includes personal questions about education level, sexual history, at least three generations of family health information and a discussion of reasons for wanting to be a semen donor. Donor profiles are available for your review.

Candidates are assessed for general health, genetics and infectious disease, As a result of our high standards and requirements, less than 5% of the donor applicants are accepted into our program.

Donor specimens are not released for a period of six months, during which time the donor must pass HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C antibody screenings.

We provide donor specimens of the highest quality. A post-thaw value is performed on every specimen to be sure it meets requirements.

Specimens can be shipped via courier service or client pick-up can be arranged.
Selecting a Donor
Selecting a donor is a crucial decision. To help you choose a donor There are three steps in the process:
  1. Our donor catalog: This document contains a brief description of the donors currently available through Procreative CryoBank, LLC. From this list you will choose specific donors about whom you want to learn more. The donor catalog is available free of charge on this website.
  2. Short Donor Profiles: These three to four page documents offer additional information about the donor including fertility history, physical feature and measurements and personal characteristics, but these profiles are less in-depth than the Long Donor Profiles. Up to 6 Short Donor Profiles per calendar year are available free-of-charge.
  3. Long Donor Profiles are very detailed documents containing 20 pages of personal and three generations of medical and family background information on the donor. These profiles are available to you for a nominal fee ($12 each). They can be ordered by mail or phone and will be sent directly and discretely to you
Purchase and Store Program (for same donor availability)
This is a popular option for clients who want to guarantee availability of a specific donor or for those who are considering having more than one child and wish to have the same donor for them. We cannot guarantee availability of a specific donor from the donor list until the time of purchase. Therefore, we recommend advance purchase of additional donor specimens for clients interested in same-donor availability. We will store vial(s) free-of-charge for up to two weeks after they are purchased. We also offer short-term and long-term storage. Call us for more information on this option and to discuss our various storage services.
Donor specimen Processing
Procreative CryoBank, LLC uses density gradient processing to prepare IUI ready donor specimens. This method is more costly and time-consuming, however, it is superior to other methods. Density gradient processing:
  • Removes white cells that are associated with bacteria, viruses and infection.
  • Pre-selects sperm that have superior motility.
  • Removes sperm with morphologic abnormalities.
  • Pre-selects sperm with a lower incidence of DNA anomalies. Removes all traces of seminal plasma, thus reducing post insemination cramping
  • Greatly improves patient's chances of getting pregnant.
If you would like more information or have questions about the density gradient processing method, please call our laboratory manager at (314) 997-3620

Cryopreservation
Sperm Banking
Male patients may want to consider the option of semen storage prior to proceeding with any medical procedure that may result in the loss of or impairment to fertility. To facilitate sperm banking for clients who live out of the area, we can send a human semen shipping container via Federal Express. This is an easy, cost-efficient way for out-of-town clients to bank samples.
Ovarian Tissue Storage
This is a relatively new option available for women undergoing cancer therapy, removal of the ovaries nonmalignant or for fertility preservation.
Who Should Consider Semen or Ovarian Tissue Storage
Semen or ovarian tissue storage should be considered:
  • prior to cancer-related therapies
  • prior to testicular prostate surgery
  • prior to vasectomy
  • prior to advanced reproductive procedures
  • or high-risk occupational exposures
  • for men with low sperm counts
  • in times of spousal absenteeism (military service, job travel, etc.)

Andrology Testing
Semen Analysis
We specialize in male infertility, including facilitating correct diagnosis of etiology. Our testing includes detailed morphology, count (concentration), motility, volume, liquefaction and pH. Semen analysis offers the most important single indicator of the functional status of the male reproductive tract. Variation in sample quality requires 2-3 samples for an accurate assessment.
Sperm Wash for Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
The objective of this procedure is to increase the concentration of normal, motile sperm in a sample used for IUI to enhance the probability of conception. Prostaglandins and other substances that can cause adverse reactions are removed during the process. Sperm washing is especially beneficial for men experiencing sub-fertility or who want to cryopreserve their specimens.
Quality Assurance
We follow the guidelines of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and we have our own Medical Advisory Board. We are members of the A.A.T.B. (American Association of Tissue Banks) and meet or exceed their rigorous guidelines. It has been determined that screening procedures substantially reduce the risk of infectious disease transmission through insemination but cannot eliminate such risk entirely. The repetitive and strict nature of the process is intended to produce the safest specimen reasonably possible.
